Verses to Pray for Survivors of Narcissistic Abuse

Are you a survivor of emotional or narcissistic abuse? Maybe you love and support victim by regularly praying for them.  If you sometimes struggle with knowing what or how to pray, consider praying God’s Word!  Here’s a whole bunch of verses to pray for survivors of narcissistic abuse organized by category that you can use to help you pray!

Protection Bible Verses

Exodus 15:2 – “The Lord is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him.

Job 5:21 – You will be protected from the lash of the tongue, and need not fear when destruction comes.

Deuteronomy 33:27 – The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He will drive out your enemies before you, saying, ‘Destroy them!’

2 Samuel 22:3 – my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge, and my savior – from violent people you save me.

Matthew 26:41 – “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

2 Peter 3:17-18 – Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position.

2 Thessalonians 3:3 – But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.

John 17:15 – My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.

Psalm 59:1-2 – Deliver me from my enemies, O God; be my fortress against those who are attacking me. Deliver me from evildoers and save me from those who are after my blood.

Psalm 64:1-2 – Hear me, my God, as I voice my complaint; protect my life from the threat of the enemy. Hide me from the conspiracy of the wicked, from the plots of evildoers.

Psalm 35:23-25 – Awake, and rise to my defense! Contend for me, my God and Lord. Vindicate me in your righteousness, Lord my God; do not let them gloat over me. Do not let them think, “Aha, just what we wanted!” or say, “We have swallowed him up.”

Psalm 91:15 – He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.

Psalm 9:10 – Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.

Psalm 91:2-3 – I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Surely, he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence.

Psalm 32:6-7 – Therefore let all the faithful pray to you while you may be found; surely the rising of the mighty waters will not reach them. You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.

Psalm 138:7 – Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life. You stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes; with your right hand, you save me.

Psalm 112:6-8 – Surely the righteous will never be shaken; they will be remembered forever. They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.

Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear; in the end, they will look in triumph on their foes.

Psalm 12:7 – You, Lord, will keep the needy safe and will protect us forever from the wicked.

Psalm 23:4 – Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Psalm 27:12-13 – Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, spouting malicious accusations. I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

Psalm 33:18-20 – But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine. We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield.

Psalm 140:7-8 – Sovereign Lord, my strong deliverer, you shield my head in the day of battle. Do not grant the wicked their desires, Lord; do not let their plans succeed.

Psalm 116:6 – The Lord protects the unwary; when I was brought low, he saved me.

Psalm 9:9-10 – The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.

Psalm 25:20-21 – Guard my life and rescue me; do not let me be put to shame, for I take refuge in you. May integrity and uprightness protect me, because my hope, Lord, is in you.

Psalm 16:1 – Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge.

Psalm 119:114 – You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word.

Psalm 3:1-3 – Lord, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me! Many are saying of me, “God will not deliver him.” But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.

Psalm 7:10 – My shield is God Most High, who saves the upright in heart.

Psalm 91:5-7 – You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.

Psalm 140:1-4 – Rescue me, Lord, from evildoers; protect me from the violent, who devise evil plans in their hearts and stir up war every day.

They make their tongues as sharp as a serpent’s; the poison of vipers is on their lips. Keep me safe, Lord, from the hands of the wicked; protect me from the violent, who devise ways to trip my feet.

Psalm 71:1 – In you, Lord, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame.

Psalm 17:8-9 – Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings from the wicked who are out to destroy me, from my mortal enemies who surround me.

Psalm 25:2 – I trust in you; do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me.

Psalm 7:1-2 – Lord my God, I take refuge in you; save and deliver me from all who pursue me, or they will tear me apart like a lion and rip me to pieces with no one to rescue me.

Psalm 62:8 – Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.

Psalm 46:1-3 – God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.

Psalm 12:5 – “Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan, I will now arise,” says the Lord. “I will protect them from those who malign them.”

Psalm 66:8-9 – Praise our God, all peoples, let the sound of his praise be heard; he has preserved our lives and kept our feet from slipping.

Psalm 49:15 – But God will redeem me from the realm of the dead; he will surely take me to himself.

Psalm 31:4 – Keep me free from the trap that is set for me, for you are my refuge.

Psalm 91:10 – No harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent.

Proverbs 18:10 – The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.

Proverbs 19:23 – The fear of the Lord leads to life; then one rests content, untouched by trouble.

Proverbs 10:29 – The way of the Lord is a refuge for the blameless, but it is the ruin of those who do evil.

Proverbs 4:6 – Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you.

Hope Bible Verses

Ephesians 1:18-19 – I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.

Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Romans 15:13 –  May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

Romans 12:12 –  Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.

Isaiah 40:31 –  But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; shall run and not be weary; shall walk and not faint.

Romans 5:2-5 –  Through Him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

Psalm 39:7 – “And now, O Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is in you.

Deuteronomy 31:6 – Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”

Romans 15:4 –  For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

1 Corinthians 13:13 –  So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Hebrews 11:1 – Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

Proverbs 23:18 –  Surely there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off.

Psalm 31:24 –  Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord!

Jeremiah 17:7  – Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord.

Isaiah 41:10 –  Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Mark 9:23  – And Jesus said to him, “‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.”

Romans 8:25 –  But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.

1 Peter 1:3 –  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

Mark 9:23  – And Jesus said to him, “‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.”

Peace/Comfort/Strength Verses

Hosea 2:15  – There I will give her back her vineyards, and will make the Valley of Achor a door of hope. There she will respond as in the days of her youth, as in the day she came up out of Egypt.

Psalm 31:24  – So be strong and courageous, all you who put your hope in the Lord! 

Isaiah 40:30-31  – Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Isaiah 40:29  – He gives strength to the weary

and increases the power of the weak.

Isaiah 41:10  – So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.

I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Deuteronomy 31:6  – So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”

Psalm 118:13-14  – I was pushed hard, so that I was falling, but the Lord helped me.

Psalm 27:14  – Wait for the Lord;

Psalm 25:1  – In you, Lord my God, I put my trust.

Psalm 9:1  – I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done.

Psalm 139:14  – I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Exodus 14:14  – The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

Romans 12:12  – Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.

James 1:2-4  – Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don’t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way.

Philippians 1:3-6  – Every time you cross my mind, I break out in exclamations of thanks to God. Each exclamation is a trigger to prayer. I find myself praying for you with a glad heart. I am so pleased that you have continued on in this with us, believing and proclaiming God’s Message, from the day you heard it right up to the present. There has never been the slightest doubt in my mind that the God who started this great work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day Christ Jesus appears.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18  – Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Matthew 8:17  – This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: “He took our illnesses and bore our diseases.”

Galatians 6:2  – Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

Ephesians 3:17-18  – Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.

Healing Verses

Psalm 147:3 – He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

Proverbs 17:22 – A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
2 Chronicles 7:14 – If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
Isaiah 53:5 – But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds, we are healed.

Malachi 4:2 – But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings. You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall.

2 Kings 20:5 – Turn back, and say to Hezekiah the leader of my people, Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. Behold, I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the Lord.

Exodus 15:26 – “If you will diligently listen to the voice of the Lord your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, your healer.”

Jeremiah 17:14 – Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved, for you are my praise.

Psalm 146:8 – The Lord opens the eyes of the blind. The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down; the Lord loves the righteous.

Psalm 107:20 – He sent out his word and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction.

1 Peter 2:24 – He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.

Luke 10:9 – Heal the sick in it and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’

Matthew 9:12 – But when he heard it, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.”

Luke 4:18 – The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed.

Mark 9:23 – And Jesus said to him, “‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.”

But Jesus on hearing this answered him, “Do not fear; only believe, and she will be well.”

James 5:14-15 – Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
Mark 10:52 – And Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he recovered his sight and followed him on the way.

Matthew 10:8 – Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying; give without pay.

James 5:16 – Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.
